28.10.2008: An innovative device on display in the Green Energy exhibition at Madatech
A constant need for a breakthrough in the renewable energy resources has been fulfilled in the form of a prototype, producing energy from oceanic waves. This first and only prototype of TOP: Turbo Ocean Power, arrived at Madatech and was inaugurated on Tuesday, Oct 28, in a festive event, hosting the minister Mr. Rafi Eitan and seniors in the science, academy and energy arena.
The prototype is a product developed by the entrepreneur and businessman Mr. Shlomo Gilboa of Seanergy Electirc Ltd. The energy potential stored in sea waves is known to produce up to 10% of the worldwide energy consumption. Nonetheless, to this date, it has never been utilized to its fullest, due to lack of a breakthrough technology in this field.
As a part of this project, a unique prototype was built, capable of producing energy from the water motion, stronger up to 20 times than any other known technology today, thus illustrating the unusual potential of this technology.
The waves are an alternative, clean energy resource with top density (upto 800 times more than solar or wind energy) and at least 300,000 Kwh at each of the oceanic farms, even under the Mediterranean Sea conditions.
The device, which was tested and run so far at S.H.M laboratories, at the Haifa Bay, is now on permanent display at the Green Energy exhibition at Madatech, and is positioned in the main hall of the old Technion building
Dr. Ronen Mir, Madatech CEO: “It is a rare opportunity for us to enable the general public a direct contact with a real device for producing clean energy that is not a museum exhibit, but a real prototype, that has functioned as an essential part in the development of a breakthrough technology for the production of clean energy” Mr. Shlomo Gilboa: we were pleased to accept the museum’s request to present TOP’s prototype as part of the Green Energy permanent exhibition. This is yet another step on the way to implementing Seanergy’s goal of turning Haifa into a leading center for renewable energy and Breakthrough technologies for energy producing worldwide” |
